Sarah Hammond is a designer currently based between Philadelphia and Portland, OR. She received her architectural training here at the University of Southern California. Her building experience ranges from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) expansion at Buro Happold Engineering, to a pediatric neurology clinic at Synthesis Design + Architecture. Further shifting scales, Sarah has now entered the world of fashion and sport at Nike’s World Headquarters as a computational designer. Joining its Digital Innovation studio has allowed Sarah to explore the intersection of the arts and technology. Her recent releases include engineered textiles for the ESC SS21 Made in Italy collection, 2021 WNBA jerseys, and 2022 NBAAll-Star Game uniforms. Sarah’s personal research focuses on translating digital tools to the textile crafts of her Persian and Ghanaian culture. She is also studying the artistry of apparel construction at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. As a lecturer at USC SOA, Sarah continues to share computational thinking with her students while also advancing efforts to broaden perspectives in our design community.
